My healing journey
My healing journey began in 2014, at age 45, with me being sick and tired of my own destructive patterns and desperate for a change. I didn’t know how to change but I knew that I could no longer live the way I had been, so I started searching and one tool led me to the next helping me heal a little more with each step. Along the way, I have learned tools to help me regulate my nervous system, live with more balance, and heal my heart. The journey to where I am now has been challenging and rewarding, painful and liberating and I can truly say it was all worth it. And while I can not take the journey for you, I can walk alongside you and point out the road markers along the way.
Education & Training
My educational and professional background includes a Master’s Degree in Recreation Therapy (the University of California, Chico in 2003) and working 19 plus years with individuals with behavioral health issues, using recreation, creative arts, team-building, leisure education, and other activity-based interventions to help people improve their quality of life. I continue to find joy in coaxing the inner child in others to come out and play and grow so that they can live lives that are more whole and balanced. Just ask, if you would like to know more about Recreation Therapy.
I have taken numerous courses including The Science of Happiness from U.C. Berkley; The Power of Awareness by Tara Brach; and The Anatomy of Emotion by Janet Stone and Mark Haviland. I have a 100-hour coaching certificate from The Strategic Intervention Coaching Program; completed my first 200-hour Yoga Teacher Training at The Harmony House, with Kelly Metcalf, in Pismo Beach; completed my Qoya Teacher Training, with Rochelle Schieck; and most recently completed a second 200-hour Boundless YTT- Mindfulness-Based Leadership Program with Amber Campion in Reno, NV.
Most recently, I have completed my certification with the Association of Nature and Forest Therapy as a Nature and Forest Therapy Guide. I have begun offering nature and forest therapy walks and hope to see you at one of my walks.
